Deephaven's recreational areas include several public parks that offer tennis courts, baseball fields, platform courts, playground equipment, basketball courts and walking trails. Trails and bike paths connect many of these recreational areas. During the winter, the trails are utilized for cross-country skiing.
- All City Parks are closed Midnight - 6 a.m.
- During winter, the skating rinks are closed 9 p.m. - 8 a.m.
- Dogs are allowed at Thorpe Park only, on a leash and on the walking path. Dog owners must pick up after their pets and waste bags are provided to keep our parks clean!
- Snowmobiles and ATVs are prohibited (Ordinance No. 705.03) in City Parks. The ordinance specifies the following:
- On a sidewalk or walkway provided or used for pedestrian traffic.
- On private property without the operator having in possession written consent from the property owner.
- On any public land or frozen waters including, but not limited to, school property, park property, playgrounds and recreational areas, except for areas authorized for such use by proper authority when traveling to or from approved snowmobile routes.

Cottagewood Children's Park
"B" on the Recreation Area Map
Cottagewood Children's Park provides a wonderful opportunity for small children to play with two play structures with benches near a beautiful sculpture and water feature where adults may relax and watch the fun. Located on Cottagewood Avenue between Western Road and Park Place, this .75-acre park is right across the street from the Cottagewood General Store which sells sundries and refreshments.
History
This area was where the Hazeltine sisters grazed their donkeys until 1918, when they were banned from the park by the City Council.

Haralson Park
"F" on the Recreation Area Map
Haralson Park is located next to Deephaven City Hall, across from the Lake Minnetonka Regional Trail (LRT). It was built in 2008 to create an aesthetic entrance into the City of Deephaven and to showcase the platform tennis court. Use of the court is free, first-come/first-served, and paddles and balls may be be checked out (with proof of residency).
History
Charles Haralson, the former superintendent of the University of MN Fruit Breeding Farm, moved to Deephaven in 1922. He was appointed to be the first superintendent in 1907 and was later honored with the naming of the Haralson apple.

Pump Park
"C" on the Recreation Area Map
Pump Park is a small oasis sheltered between the storefronts on Minnetonka Blvd. It provides passersby an opportunity to sit and relax in a small scenic setting and watch the world go by.
History
This small square across from St. Therese Church is where an old hand pump once stood. Efforts to locate the old pump and reinstall it on the grounds were unsuccessful.

Shuck Park
"D" on Recreation Area Map
Shuck Park is a .7-acre quiet neighborhood park that offers two recently renovated tennis courts, a small basketball court and playground equipment for the kids. A wonderful park to enjoy activities with friends and family.
History
In 1937, the Village of Deephaven purchased six lots in Cottagewood for public grounds which they later named Shuck Park, in honor of A.M. (Bob) Shuck.
Bob came to Deephaven in the mid-1880's where he became the caretaker for and right-hand man of Hazen J. Burtons. He spent the rest of his lifetime helping the Burtons and serving the Village in various capacities.
Among other things, Bob was instrumental in getting the Village out of debt in 1932, and in keeping it solvent during the depression. He also coached Deephaven's first football team which brought trainloads of spectators in to watch the games played in a natural amphitheater in "Burton's pasture", behind today's Elementary School playground.

Thorpe Park

Thorpe Park is quite simply the centerpiece of the Deephaven Park System. With every possible amenity and acres of lovely park land, Thorpe Park provides recreational opportunities for every age.
History
Once a field farmed by local truck farmers Frank Bennis and his son George, Thorpe Park has evolved to be Deephaven's primary community park. Upgraded in 1996, Thorpe Park offers numerous outdoor activities for year-round enjoyment for families of all ages.

Village Hall Park adjoins Deephaven City offices and provides a variety of recreational activities from tennis, baseball and playground equipment in the summer, to hockey and ice skating in the winter. The large parking lot allows many residents to easily access the popular Lake Minnetonka Regional Trail (LRT).

Lake Minnetonka Regional Trail
The Lake Minnetonka Regional Trail connects the city of Deephaven to its nearby neighbors. Providing about 9.2 miles of compacted limestone aggregate, it stretches from Hopkins to Victoria, intersecting Deephaven's Village Hall Park. Pedestrians, bikers, and cross-country skiers can enjoy these long miles of trails year round and easily use them to travel between cities along its path.

Warming House Hours
The warming houses at both Village Hall Park and Thorpe Park are open in the winter depending on the weather. Specific opening and closing dates will be posted here when the season approaches.
