Park Committee
Department

The primary responsibility of the Park Committee is to issue recommendations to the City Council on the maintenance, appearance, repair and replacement, budgeting, and future improvements at:

  • Public Parks
  • Public Beaches
  • Public Trails
  • Recreational Facilities and Programs

The Park Committee also establishes rules and regulations on the use of park and recreational facilities as deemed necessary and proper to promote the public use and preservation of park lands.

Membership

The Park Committee consists of seven members appointed by the Council. A majority of voting members constitutes a quorum. A member missing three consecutive regularly-scheduled meetings or four regularly-scheduled meetings within a calendar year will be reviewed for continued membership. Board members may be removed by a three-fifths (3/5) vote of the Council. A member is appointed for an initial three-year term and appointed annually thereafter at the discretion of the City Council.

Meetings

The Committee elects one member to serve as the chair for a term of one year. The City Administrator acts as the Secretary of the Park Committee, but is not a member. The Committee meets at least once a month on the first Tuesday of each month.
