Deephaven’s main attraction is beautiful Lake Minnetonka with its three deep-cut bays defining City's western border. The points and peninsulas overlooking the lake provide some of the City’s most beautiful views, and the lake furnishes endless opportunities for year‐round recreational activities. Deephaven has six public beaches for summer fun, each described in detail below.
To park in permit-only spaces near the beaches, you'll need a Deephaven Beach Parking Sticker, available May-September at City Hall.

Weekly Water Testing for Your Safety
Hennepin County will be collecting water samples at Linden, Northern Sandy Road, Rocky, Nocomo, Deephaven, and Robinson’s Bay beaches weekly during the summer period of May 20th, 2024 – August 26th, 2024. The water samples are tested Mondays except for Memorial Day; that week water samples will be collected Tuesday, May 21st. Samples will be collected in the morning and sent to an outside laboratory facility to test for Escherichia coli (E. coli) – an indicator organism. The E. coli itself may not be harmful, however, it indicates that the water has a high probability of contamination by human or animal waste that may contain pathogenic organisms. Beach water samples undergo an 18-hour incubation period so you will hear from us Tuesday afternoon only if there is a high result; when this situation occurs, beach closure is recommended.
A high E. coli result would exceed the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) recommended water quality standards for a single sample:
Escherichia coli colonies from the last five samples shall not exceed a geometric mean of 126/100mL, nor shall any one sample exceed 235 colonies/100mL.
When lab tests reveal E. coli levels above EPA standards, beach water may pose a health threat to individuals encountering the water. Hennepin County Public Health recommends closure of the beach due to high levels of bacterial contamination and we will resample the following day. Our staff will make every effort to inform you of the test result as soon as possible.
Hennepin County’s “Public Swimming Beaches” website features an interactive map for beachgoers; it is updated in real-time to reflect beach status including any beach closures (www.hennepin.us/beaches).
