Fire Hydrant Flushing Notice – Spring 2026

Fire Hydrant Flushing Notice – Spring 2026

The City of Deephaven will preforming its annual fire hydrant flushing program during the week of May 4th, 2026. This important maintenance helps keep our water system clean, safe and operating efficiently. Hydrant flushing removes built-up sediment from water mains, improves water quailty, and helps ensure proper water flow and pressure for fire protection.

What to Expect

During the flushing process, some residnets may notice temporary water discoloration or cloudy water. This happens when naturally occuring minerals and sediment are stirred up in the water lines. While it may look unpleasant, the water remains safe to drink and the discoloration is temporary.

Helpful Tips for Residents

  • Avoid doing laundry during the flushing period, as sediment may stain clothing.
  • If water appears discolored, run your cold water tap for 10-15 minutes or until the water runs clear.
  • Avoid using hot water until the cold water clears to help prevent sedimant from entering your water heater.
  • Water softners may also help remove any temporary discoloration.

We appreciate your patience and understanding during this annual maintenance process.
