Metropolitan Mosquito Control District Begins 2026 Season

Residents may begin noticing activity from the Metropolitan Mosquito Control District (MMCD) as they officially start their 2026 mosquito control season. Staff will be working throughout the metro area monitoring mosquito activity and beginning treatments as conditions require.

You may see MMCD staff in bright safety vests, trucks with the MMCD logo, or crews working on foot, by bike, or in wetlands. Helicopter treatments are expected to begin the week of April 20.

MMCD’s work includes monitoring wetlands, catch basins, and other breeding areas, along with applying treatments when needed to help reduce mosquito populations and protect public health. Materials used are regularly tested for safety and are not harmful to people, pets, or wildlife when applied as directed.

Residents can view scheduled treatments, sign up for alerts, and learn more at MMCD.org.
